The launch of the Eastside Primetimers Good Merger Index Review of Not-for-Profit Mergers for 2021/21 took place on Tuesday 14th February. This unique annual study investigates and reports on mergers amongst charities and social enterprises.

As well as finding out the results of our extensive research, attendees also had the chance to hear from our panel of guest presenters:

  • Duncan Shrubsole, Director of Policy, Communications and Research for the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales. The Foundation specialises in supporting small and local charities, helping build their capabilities and resilience. We encourage and support charities to network and learn from each other and to develop how they work and collaborate with other charities, sectors and partners
  • Graeme Hodge, CEO of All We Can & Y Care International. He recently oversaw the formation of a close and mutually satisfactory pairing of these two organisations, whilst retaining a clear differentiation between them. This is a fascinating example of how two organisations ultimately decided not to formally merge but found a way to work closely together for maximum impact
  • Stewart Marks, Chief Executive of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, which is completing its merger with Peace Hospice Care to form Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care. Stewart will be able to share his very current experience of a journey that started several years ago.

With clear strategic focus and commitment, merger and other strategic partnerships remain a successful route to improving sustainability and delivering impact.

Tracey O'Keefe, Account Director - Partnerships & Mergers
