We are pleased to report that on March 31st 2016 new charity Scleroderma and Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) was successfully launched with support from Eastside Primetimers. The charity has been formed from the merger of Raynaud’s and Scleroderma Association Trust and Scleroderma Society. Both charities supported those affected by these rare, incurable conditions providing advice, raising awareness and issuing grants for research. These services will continue to be the focus of the new charity.
Eastside Primetimers was initially engaged to facilitate early discussions between the two Boards before a decision to merge had been taken, and to identify key issues for their consideration. On this basis, the Trustees of both charities agreed to pursue the merger. Since that time Eastside Primetimers has provided a range of support including commercial due diligence, support with recruiting a new Chief Executive, drafting a Finance Manual and recommendations around an accounting system and ongoing post-merger Project Management. We are also supporting with recruitment to two other key posts within the new charity.
Nikki Wilson, Eastside Primetimers Project Manager said “Through working on this project I have been given a fascinating insight into the broad range of considerations when bringing together two charities, and the challenges of balancing continuation of services whilst dealing with the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the merger process. A huge amount has been achieved by their small staff team in a short space of time.”
Sue Farrington, SRUK Chief Executive said “As a chief executive with limited experience of mergers, I very much valued working with Eastside Primetimers. They allowed SRUK to tap into a range of expertise, gave us independent and unbiased assessments of the situation and brought to the table their extensive knowledge and insights from supporting previous mergers.”
