We are pleased to report that on April 1st, Grenfell Housing and Training successfully merged into Evolve Housing + Support. With a combined turnover of £12.45m and working in eight local authorities, the combined organisation is now the third largest provider of accommodation for homeless people in London. Eastside Primetimers carried out the initial introduction between the two organisations, helping them take the first step to forging this new partnership.
By joining together, the new organisation will have increased financial strength and will be able to achieve even better outcomes for many more people, including:
- Supporting 2000 people each year towards independence
- Providing more local community services including support into work and learning, counselling and mentoring; and
- Building more new affordable homes for homeless people
In a joint statement about the merger, Diana Coman, Chair of Grenfell, and Karen Cooper, Chair of Evolve, said ‘‘We are delighted to bring our organisations together; this will be of real benefit to the people we support and our combined financial strength will enable us to continue to make a lasting difference to lives and communities.’’
Jeremy Gray, Chief Executive of Evolve said “Having attended one of their regular merger roundtables to learn about the landscape and explore our options, we chose Eastside Primetimers to help us find the right partner for us, in line with our new business plan. The experience and process they brought to the table enabled us to open up discussions with Grenfell.’’
This follows on from the successful merger of Oxford Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre into Deaf Direct in December, which Eastside Primetimers facilitated with funding from the Big Potential fund.
According to recent research by the Charities Aid Foundation, 1 in 10 charity leaders is planning a merger in the next 12 months.
