NOAH (New Opportunities and Horizons) is a Luton-based charity working across Bedfordshire offering hope and support to people experiencing disadvantage. Founded in 1987, NOAH has earned a reputation for positively affecting people’s lives including those who are homeless and rough sleeping. Their forward thinking and solutions-based approach to alleviating poverty has allowed them to aid those most in need within our community. They have created an organisation capable of achieving extraordinary positive impact on peoples’ lives.
NOAH works with the whole person to find permanent and individually tailored pathways out of homelessness and other forms of poverty. Support is offered to people who are homeless, severely excluded, or both, at a pace and level suited to each individual. It ranges from providing hot meals and medical care, to offering accredited training and support in finding a job. They aim to continue to be there for our people long after finding permanent accommodation and employment.
HR Trustee – What we’re looking for:
A Trustee with experience working at a senior management/leadership level in HR, to help NOAH strengthen their staff and volunteer management and achieve their ambition of developing Rainbow Recruitment, a new social enterprise which aims to secure employment for clients. They will have the specific responsibility for providing thought leadership on HR and support the Board to understand any relevant HR issues that need to be considered as part of strategic planning and operations.
Fundraising Trustee – What we’re looking for:
A Trustee with experience working at a senior management/leadership level in Fundraising within the Third Sector, preferably across several methods: trust & foundations, statutory, community and corporate fundraising, individual giving & philanthropy (social enterprise expertise would be advantageous). They will have specific responsibility for providing thought leadership and guidance on fundraising as part as the development and implementation of the overall approach.
For both roles, experience within the homelessness and/or poverty sector is desirable but not essential. However, it is key that candidates have a true passion supporting the most disadvantaged in our community. NOAH Enterprise recognise and respect the fundamental dignity and worth of every individual and wish to support them in improving their life quality. Their work is founded upon a Christian ethos and it is expected that Trustees respect this. However, in selecting candidates we will focus on skills, perspectives, diversity and values, rather than religion.
Trustees will be expected to attend quarterly Board meetings, which are held during the day (over Zoom in case of continued social distancing restrictions). You will also be asked to join one or two sub-committees which tend to meet every two months. Candidates should be open to providing occasional ad hoc advise or guidance over the phone or in face-to-face meetings.
Trustees are not paid, but reasonable out of pocket expenses will be met.
