With 32 years as a CEO of some of the UK’s most high profile charities, including Amnesty International UK and Unicef UK, David brings unique experience of leading growth & success in the charity sector. Also a trained coach/mentor, David can help with leadership, strategy, culture, organisation & problem-solving. David is a trustee of two charities (one as Vice Chair) and also able to help with Governance issues. His background in campaigning and advocacy also gives him the ability to support organisations seeking to increase their influence and work for change.
Key skills & experience
David has spent his career as a leader in the not-for-profit sector, in the UK and internationally, with a particular focus on international development, human rights and sustainability.
He has also worked closely with leading businesses on partnerships and CSR, including as a member of the FTSE4Good Advisory Committee.
During the last two years David has been undertaking a variety of consultancy assignments including:
- Mentoring the CEOs of two international humanitarian organisations
- Advising philanthropists,
- Motivational presentations on leadership
- Identifying international development programmes for a major new global communications and media initiative.
As a trustee he has been closely involved in governance reviews and strategy development.
David enjoys helping leaders to develop their organisations, solve problems and find innovative ways to overcome constraints and achieve ambitious results. As a leader, he has focused particularly on the importance of organisational culture as a key ingredient in the recipe for success, alongside strategy and innovation. He was awarded the CBE in 2015 for his humanitarian work.
