Helen works with charities and not for profits to focus on their organisational goals, understand their audiences and develop strategies and plans to support sustainability and growth. She specialises in marketing, fundraising and communications.
Helen has a doctorate in Ecology and postgraduate qualifications in direct marketing, market research and coaching. She has previously held senior Business Insight and Marketing roles in Mars and as a Director at the Woodland Trust.
Alongside her role as an Eastside Primetimers consultant, she also leads on marketing and communications planning.
Key skills & experience
An experienced market researcher and marketeer in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Helen has developed and managed transformative campaigns in the environmental sector and has worked with a range of health and social care and arts organisations to focus on their audiences (both beneficiaries and funders) and to develop a clear brand and compelling case for support. Current projects include helping charities to diversify their income through trading and developing social enterprises both through Big Potential and the Big Local Sustainability Fund.
Helen is also a trained graphic facilitator and coach and uses these techniques in her work with clients preferring a mentoring style to build skills and capacity in the organisations she works with.
- Birmingham LGBT: developing a brand framework and case for support to be used for individual and major donor giving. This was then extended in a second piece of work developing a marketing strategy for business support.
- South West Wildlife Trusts: partnering with them, a collection of 6 county Wildlife Trusts, to develop a shared marketing strategy to increase their efficiency and effectiveness
- Pecan (London): developing a business plan for a social enterprise
- Soft Touch Arts: partnering with the board and Directors to ensure their future sustainability following a period of major change and investment in a new building. This has included refining their strategic direction, succession planning and marketing their services to generate a wider stream of unrestricted income.
