James Vaughan

James has fourteen years of executive level experience at the RNLI and has also recently been a Trustee of two charities.  During this time, James has enjoyed building strong, innovative and high performance teams across many different portfolios and has successfully delivered a number of significant projects.

Recent projects

  • Strategy review and development: developing and establishing the International strategy at the RNLI which has successfully led to a ground breaking UN resolution on the subject as well as wider strategic reviews/business plan developments with the RNLI and the charities for which James has been a trustee
  • Change and Transformation – responsible for the Lean transformation process at the RNLI and has been involved in numerous restructures over the years learning what works and just as importantly, what doesn’t!
  • Fundraising and Comms – from delivering £160M income from £27M spend for the RNLI to helping Shelterbox diversify their income.
  • Governance and Leadership – led the remodelling of the RNLI’s governance in 2010 (inc a Royal Charter change) as well as setting up the next iteration recently and leadership as part of an Executive team through some pretty turbulent times
  • Marketing and Branding – background in marketing agencies and an area where James spent nearly ten years at the RNLI developing the brand and introducing a public engagement approach.
