Judith started her career as a qualified accountant in the hotel and catering industry then moved to manufacturing but has spent the last 15 years working in the charity sector where her focus has been predominantly small to medium sized charities. The ability to blend the commercial and the charitable, the operational and the financial is key to success and growth and something she is equipped to provide.
Key skills & experience
Specialising in small to medium sized charities means you need to be able to cover many areas of specialism, bring teams together working towards shared goals and problem solving across the organisation.
- Assessing the VAT options of making a new registration to maximise recovery on a capital build project then progressing discussions on claims with HMRC.
- Looking at options with a charity that found itself in a financial crisis due to the unexpected loss of contracts which led to the erosion of reserves. Risk management, option appraisal, financial and cash flow forecasting were essential including making sure Trustees were considering the issue of going concern.
- Restructuring budgets for major UK funders as a result of the impact of covid on delivery outcomes, ensuring that no funding was lost but repurposed.
