Liz Lipscomb

I run an independent research consultancy which specialises in social and market research in the not-for-profit sector. After almost ten years at the Charities Aid Foundation, I launched my consultancy in 2012 and have worked on projects with charities and sector bodies covering evaluations, data analysis, literature reviews and primary research. I have a master’s degree in social research methods from the University of Surrey. My particular interests lie in research/evaluation design, primary research with charity clients/beneficiaries, and desk research.

Key Projects:

An evaluation of a cash grant pilot programme

I worked with the Trussell Trust and Leeds City Council to rigorously evaluate the impact of giving people in crisis a cash grant rather than a food parcel. Telephone interviews, a web survey, focus groups and data analysis were conducted to deliver clear impacts and trends.

Evaluation of a charity’s existing client surveys plus literature review

A small London charity offering activities to older people in order to combat isolation asked me to evaluate their existing monitoring and evaluation tools and to offer improvements. In addition, I also conducted a literature review on the issues affecting older people, to be used as a basis for gaining future funding.

Evaluation of an education support programme for a funder

A small charity that provides sessions in secondary schools around drug and alcohol awareness requested that their programme be evaluated for their funder. I ran a web survey with students and another with teachers and also analysed usage data. I provided both an Interim and Final evaluation report which was sent to the grant-making trust funder.
