Matt Knopp

Matt has had a long career advising SMEs, charities and social enterprises on the operational issues of how to scale-up. Before Eastside Primetimers, he had a ten-year spell working with enterprise agencies and venture capitalists, as an investment trouble-shooter for early-stage growth businesses.

Matt specialises in developing new services, managing client relationships and advising on growth strategies. He has delivered investment readiness programmes for Cabinet Office, DCLG and Big Lottery; organised non-profit bidding consortia; and created strategic collaboration and merger projects for some of the best not-for-profit organisations in the UK. Currently he is focused on developing EP’s social investment support services in partnership with investors and government support agencies.

As well as developing growth through investment, Matt has special expertise in charity mergers developed over the last 7 years, through managing almost 50 merger related projects and via the facilitation of the quarterly Eastside Primetimers merger roundtable for Chief Executives and Board members. Matt speaks regularly at board away days and conferences on the challenges, best practice and current market trends for mergers and other collaborative strategies.

Matt served as a founding Board Director of national award winning social enterprise Bikeworks for 9 years. He currently sits on the board of Trident Social Investment Group, a West Midlands-based housing association and has recently finished a term as Interim Chair of Reach, a £15m health and social care charity within the group with 750 staff.
