Investment Readiness

We help charities and social enterprises to become investment ready and to secure the best package of finance to meet their needs, whether it’s money for a new site, refitting a building, or raising working capital to deliver a public sector contract.

Eastside Primetimers has been an approved provider for a number of investment readiness funds that allow not-for-profit organisations to access support and raise investment – we are currently available as an advisor on the Access Reach Fund.

On the Big Lottery-funded Big Potential fund managed by the Social Investment Business (SIB), we have been one of the most successful approved providers in terms of applications submitted and successfully approved on behalf of our clients. Since 2014 we have supported over 60 organisations through this programme with investment readiness projects, often improving their organisational capacity, income diversity, social impact or partnerships as part of the work we have done.

Through Big Potential, we helped Ecological Land Co-operative with business modelling and the production of a detailed five-year business plan, which underpinned their expansion in Sussex through share issues. Most recently in 2017, their raise through Ethex met its final target of £440,000, allowing them to purchase and develop two more plots of land in line with the original business plan.

As an approved provider on SIB’s Investment and Contract Readiness Fund (ICRF), we helped clients raise £1.7m of social investment – for example, we helped BCHA to raise £775,000 to develop and fund a new social enterprise hub in Bournemouth.

In late 2017 we also supported energy social enterprise Our Power with a successful £4.4m investment raise through Ethex – we worked with them to put together the bond offer document, containing detail of the business plan and expected social impact to help guide prospective investors. As a result, Our Power were able to move ahead with their 5-year business plan to provide more than 120,000 additional customers with affordable energy and create 200 jobs in areas with high unemployment, and Our Power has also been nominated for ‘Good Deal of the Decade’.
